TimeLife records now brings you the ultimate collection of love quotes
REMEMBER ... Since "Love" is often trouble, it can appear on this blog.
Anyway ... It's my rules ... so go f*ck yourself if you don't like it.
(Insert Isaac Hayes voice here) It would cost you over $1000.00 if you tried to buy all these quotes separately in stores. That is ... if you could find them all.
Now TimeLife records brings them all to you in one convenient package.
1) " I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you."
~ Elizabeth Barrett Browning
2) "Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it.
It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for.
And the trouble is, if you don't risk everything, you risk even more."
~Erica Jong
3) "Doubt that the stars are fire; Doubt that the sun doth move; Doubt truth to be a liar; But never doubt I love."
("Hamlet") ~ William Shakespeare
4) "To fall in love is easy, even to remain in it is not difficult; our human loneliness is cause enough.
But it is a hard quest worth making to find a comrade through whose steady presence one becomes steadily the person one desires to be."
~Anna Louise Strong
5) "If you have it (love), you don't need to have anything else.
If you don't have it, it doesn't matter much what else you do have."
~Sir James M. Barrie
6) "Love is missing someone when you are apart, but somehow feeling close inside because you're close in heart."
~Kay Knudsen
7) "To the world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the world."
~Unknown
8) "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."
~The Bible: 1 Corinthians
9) "Today I begin to understand what love must be, if it exists.
When we are parted, we each feel the lack of the other half of ourselves.
We are incomplete like a book in two volumes of which the first has been lost.
That is what I imagine love to be: incompleteness in absence."
~Goncourt
10) "Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love."
~ Charlie Brown
These are ten of my personal favorites. Please feel free to add your own.

"If music be the food of love, play on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die." Twelfth Night
Says it all, somehow, don't you think?
I can't! don't have any batteries.

That's a generalization.
Superman does not lie. He's a guy!
You can't lump everyone into the same pile.

Why does love hurt so bad??
this has always been my favorite, the credo i've tried to live by (much to my consternation...) from rilke's letters to a young poet:
"For one human being to love another:
that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation."
Twice or thrice had I loved thee, Before I knew thy face or name;
So in a voice, so in a shapeless flame,
Angels affect us oft, and worshipp'd be.
- John Donne, "Air and Angels"
Sigh no more, sweet ladies, sigh no more. Men were deceivers ever. One foot on land and one in sea, to one thing constant never.
Then sign no more, but let them go and be yee blithe and bonny, forgetting all your tales of woe.
-Shakespeare (from one of the comedies)
the day before my wedding, something convinced me to change the poem on the programs i had painstakingly written some months before. the back poem was a beautiful poem on love, but, not so beautiful that it stuck with me.
instead, i changed it to my favorite emily dickinson poem. not the most romantic, surely, but i can still remember it.
hope is the thing with feathers. it's long, so i won't quote it. but look it up. it's worth the read.
It's not that long SJ.
I wish you and your husband a long and happy life together.
"Hope" is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –
I've heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of Me.
