Not a day goes by that I don't think of those words of wisdom Peter..not fucking one.
Thanks for linking up to the Video for the Vets..they could use some cash if your readers are so inclined..its the best commerical I have seen and its not connected with the DNC..figures eh?
Very wise words, indeed. Rallying nationalistic support against a common enemy and compromising the rights of individuals in doing so seem to be hallmarks in the establishment of fascist regimes. And, clearly, the great American "experiment" isn't immune to such treachery.
We have a programme in the Uk called Spooks (about an under cover goverment organisation) - sometimes I wonder why it is allowed to be aired but we are a 'free country' - politically the last episode could happen and Hermann Goerings quote was what the programme was all about - and just how easy it could actually happen in the UK
- it was literally about how easy it is to make the country insecure from the inside and then plot a coup and take it over an put in place a dictatorship in the guise of protecting democracy.
It was very good and is a situation that could happen.
