SO MUCH TROUBLE IN THE WORLD

BRAVO STEPHEN

A strange thing happened the other day. I went to youtube.com to find the video of Stephen Colbert Roasting President Bush at the White House correspondent's dinner. I searched the whole site several times and mysteriously the video was gone. I had watched it just the day before, so I know it was on youtube.com, but one day later it was missing. All three segments were gone. All that remained on the subject search was a lame clip of Tucker Carlson commenting on how he thought the 20 minute roast was not funny.

I like to think this is still a free country, and people should be able to decide for themselves what is funny and what is not. For example I think a grown man that still wears bow ties is funny.

Anyway ... After searching for a little while I found the whole piece unedited at Google Video. I really think it is worth your time to watch a very funny and well written speech. George Bush looks like he is going to explode several times during the presentation. So ... without further delay STEPHEN COLBERT ROASTS PRESIDENT BUSH

Cowardly Lion: Courage! What makes a king out of a slave? Courage! What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage! What makes the elephant charge his tusk in the misty mist, or the dusky dusk? What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage! What makes the sphinx the seventh wonder? Courage! What makes the dawn come up like thunder? Courage! What makes the Hottentot so hot? What puts the "ape" in apricot? What have they got that I ain't got?
Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman: Courage!
Cowardly Lion: You can say that again! Huh?

WOW, there were some new shades of red on the the presidential puss there. he was not amused.

Oh, that was great. No wonder they didn't allow it to be shown. Tee-hee.

I had a little look-see at other blogs on this and they are full of all different opinions - for and against Colbert. One of them even said that we shouldn't be roasting the Prez like this because it is contributing to the division of America - even inferring that this administration and the people of the US will topple our government with.

I don't think we'll go that far, but the fact that Colbert got away with pointing this stuff out and being lauded by so many indicates MAJOR problems in our country right now. Anyone have suggestions?

I think my favorite bit was his "... because your grandchildren won't know what a glacier is" joke.

It's funny ... and it's not very funny.
